All Exclusive is a personal exploration, open to everyone’s participation and contribution. My 12 years working in tourism and development, in France and abroad led me to ponder the interactions between both sectors.
Tourism can have the best as the worst impacts on people, that they are traveling or hosting, as well as on their direct and indirect environments. Considering the importance (1 billion international arrivals worldwide in 2012 – 2 billion expected for 2030) risks (environmental, social and economic impacts), and triviality of the growing leisure industry it is in everyone’s interest to design these activities as cautiously as possible.
The core question is: How can travelers benefit their hosts as effectively as possible, and still enjoy their time abroad?
A recent trend, referred to as the "other tourism" is gaining in importance placing ethics and responsibility is the center of touristic development. New models appear and are duplicated here and there spreading tourism in the most remote regions of earth and aiming at providing both tourists and "local communities" with authenticity and progress. But it seems that users don’t fully understand the aspects of these initiatives… not yet!
In that prospect, I started a journey threw tourism with the intention of observing and reporting the state of affairs of the industry for the public to make thoughtful decisions. So far I visited regions where eco-tourism but also mass tourism became development models. Video interviews, press articles, personal thoughts, photo reports, anti travel guide are examples of productions I will broadcast once home.
What are the different touristic models? What are their mechanisms? Their effects? Alternative forms of travel never were so popular but also misunderstood. All Exclusive intends to place visitors, and hosting communities in the center of the ethic debate on tourism and travel for these initiatives to be as effective as possible.
